Here is a cool way to enable checkbox selection instead of using CONTROL key to select multiple files and folders.
Go to folder options from tools menu or organize menu present on the menu bar.
Click on Folder and search options and then from the dialog box which appears, select Use check boxes to select items .
Now click apply and then ok and then you can see checkboxes alongside of the items and you can use them to select multiple items without using the CNTRL key.....
